Welcome to UK Carer Help
This site provides links, embedded HMRC information and a basic calulator to help you make an informed decision on how much personal pension contribution will allow you to keep this payment intact
Pension Calculator Description
In simple terms, this calculator works out how much personal pension contribution you need to make to keep your carers allowance.
The starting figure is you gross salary amount (this is the amount you are paid for the week or month, before anything is taken off)
Next we remove any Tax and National Insurance you paid
There is a worksheet to help add up valid expenses that can also be removed
Finally we remove half of any workplace pension that has been made by your employer
The figure that is left is taken away from the earning limit for the week / month, and this remainder, doubled, is how much you need to pay into a personal pension for the period, to retain this allowance.
Example
Gross Salary of £750 | = | £750 |
less Tax of £50 | - | £50 |
less National Insurance of £20 | - | £20 |
less Expenses of £10 | - | £10 |
less half of £30 Workplace Pension | - | £15 |
Sub Total | = | 750 - 50 - 20 - 10 - 15 |
Sub Total | = | £655 |
less the 2023 monthly allowance | - | £603 |
leaves amount to maintain carers payment | = | £52 |
You need to make a personal pension contribution of | £104 (£52 * 2) |
